Christmas Wishlist

christmas wish list

It has become a tradition for me to make this wishlist every year. It started as a fun idea to share what I was looking forward to get for christmas, and now it is a must, my parents are already asking… – Are you not making a list this year? And, yes I am, here you go:

  1. Kitchen Aid Artisan in White, it’s been my dream already for many years to have it. This year is not going to happen, since there’s no space for it in my kitchen (don’t want any trouble with my rommie), but it’s still my dream, that’s why it stays my number one in the wishlist.
  2. Google Chromecast to be able to connect my phone and other devices to the TV,  and more 😀
  3. Nexus 9 – Black, 32 GB, LTE my laptop is not going to last forever and I’ve been looking for a solution, maybe this could be it!
  4. There’s no Christmas without a new Pj’s .
  5. I have just the perfect shoes for this leopard clutch, so, destiny?
  6. Rebecca Minkoff Avery bag because I’m looking for a new everyday bag.
  7. Fancying a new nail polish, my favourite and perfect for this season, Chanel’s Rouge Noir.
  8. Because it’s time to say goodbye to my beloved Asos Parka, going for this Zara one.
  9. Looking for a replacement for my long-lost winter beanie, this Carhartt one does the trick for sure!
  10. And last but not least… Grace Vagabond boots, my old ones are sadly falling into pieces…

(It got expensive tho :P)

Birthday Preparations #3 – The Food

milkshake_cupcakes

The Food i wanted to keep simple because I didn’t want to spend 3 days in the kitchen preparing things. The theme was clear, a Diner, so the food? easy peasy… Diner food! Hamburger and Hot dog bar, Coleslaw, Tomato Soup, Milkshake looking Cupcakes and well that’s enough xD

I always have to keep in mind that many of my friends are vegetarian, so I try always to make 50% vegetarian 50% non-vegetarian food so they get also something to eat and don’t leave the party early because they are hungry. Since the main dishes were hamburgers and hotdogs, the rest had to be vegetarian, that’s why I decided to cook a Tomato Soup, Coleslaw and a last-minute Penne-tomato pesto salat. Don’t have that many pictures, and they are also not that good, but I hope you get the idea!

Birthday Preparations #2 – The Decorations

birthdayprep_50sdeko

This year I kept it simple, since I didn’t find a location for the party till the last second I didn’t knew exactly how much the place would be needing decorations. So I just bought some stuff online:

  • Balloons in 3 different colours, white, pink and blue. I tried to keep the colours similar to the ones on the invitation and of course my outfit.
  • Table covers, one in silver, other colours that were available not so much my taste and a black and white squared one, like the canvas on the invitation.
  • A Jukebox, what would be a 50’s party without one of those?
  • I had some signs from an 80’s party I threw 2 years ago, those were also matching the 50’s theme 😀

I was trying to do this party as much low-budget as possible since this year I was already spending a lot for renting a place for doing it, so 2 days before the party I gathered some friends to help me do some DIY record garlands and a Dine-In sign. They ended up looking amazing and I took us like just 3 hours to do them between eating, cutting, gossiping, drawing and watching some Germany’s next top model.

My sister and his boyfriend were visiting me and they helped me put everything together. I was/am very happy with the result Helena’s Diner was definitely going to be a hit!

Birthday Preparations #1 – The Invitation

Invitation

So, my 30th Birthday is coming, and unlike most of the people, I don’t care I’m getting 30… I’m actually looking forward to it 😀 I love celebrating my bday, love to take care of every single detail to make this night perfect, for me and of course my beloved friends.

First and most difficult, choose a theme. It’s not like I have to, but I think it’s lot more fun when the party has a theme. Invitations, decorations, food and drinks, the costumes and music… everything hast to fit the theme. Two years ago I organized an 80’s party, and I’m proud to say that it was awesome, with the help from some of my friends and lots of hours of work the place looked amazing, but that just made it more difficult to top for me this year. After a lot of thinking I decided that this years theme will be… “The Fabulous 50’s”

Once I decided what to do, the first thing I had to take care of was, the invitation. Germans like to plan with a lot of time, I had to work fast to send the invitations on time, so that most of my friends can come. Photoshop time it is, in 3 hours everything was ready, and I think it ended up looking quite decent 😀

Keep posted for more insides on the party 😉 Follow me on Facebook and Instagram to be the first to know!

Handmade Circus Aachen

1

This past weekend it took place the 2nd edition of Handmade Circus in Aachen, a design market for young designers. I wasn’t able to go last year so I was really looking forward to it. It surprised me how much people were there, but well on a Sunday and in the middle of the city I shouldn’t have been that surprised. I actually wanted to take some photos for the post, but it was nearly impossible since I’m kinda little and the place was crowded. 66 shops with accessories, mode, ceramics, stationery, illustration, baby and children mode, food, beer… everything self-made and far away from mainstream. I bought some beers and took the cards of the shops I liked the most.

larabis

Lara Bispinck, a graphic designer and illustrator from Aachen, I was already a fan of her work but she’s also such a nice person that I’m even a bigger fan now 😀 Her hand-drawn illustrations are amazing!

kuloer

KULØR, handmade porcelain from Karlsruhe. If I had the money, I’d buy everything this girl does. The colours, the shapes… everything is just right! you can buy some of her creations online here and here!

Nice Nice Nice, the are not just talented and bright, they are also the creators of Handmade Circus, without them the whole market won’t be possible.

no_gallery

No Gallery, 3D words or quotes for every taste, you can choose your colour, the font and even the quote/word you want… I think I’m going to order “I kiss better than I cook” to hang on my kitchen wall 😀

URwerk

UR Werk, another talented girl with very nice illustrations, you can find from postcards to buttons at her shop for a fair price.

vonfreude

And last but not least, von Freude, craft beer from Hamburg, the only thing I bought at the market. Haven’t tried them yet, but since I love beer I guess I’ll make a post about them soon 😀
